Chargers Champions Grants

The Chargers Champions Program, presented by Wells Fargo Bank, has awarded $420,000 overall in scholarships and grants for physical fitness, education and nutrition programs. Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) Award for Serving
Food that Promotes Health
Food Services Department
The San Diego Unified School District’s Food Services Department has been
awarded the highest score in California and the second highest score in
the U.S. by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) for “serving food that promotes health.” The PCRM evaluated lunch programs from the largest districts in the country on three essential categories for children’s nutrition in schools:
- Obesity and Chronic Disease
- Health Promotion and Nutrition Adequacy
- Nutrition Initiatives

Proposition MM Communications Team
Each award is the highest honor given to school communications programs at the state and national level. The Proposition MM communications program was recognized for its comprehensive approach to informing the community of progress; involving the community in critical decisions; and effectively integrating broad strategies including media exposure, special events, issues management and community relations. |
