Overview
The Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program, part of California's statewide testing and accountability system, helps measure how well students are learning academic skills. The STAR Program consists of four parts:

California Standards Test (CST)
The California Standards Tests in English language arts, mathematics, science, and history/social science measure student performance against California's content standards. The content standards are grade and course specific and specify what each student should know and be able to do. Learn more.

California Achievement Test, Sixth Edition (CAT/6)
The CAT/6 shows how San Diego students are performing in relation to other students across the nation on basic skills. Students in grades 9-11 are tested on reading and language, mathematics, and science, while students in grades 2-8 are tested on spelling in addition to the other subject areas. To learn more, check out the CAT/6 Fact Sheet .

California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA)

The CAPA is a performance assessment for students with moderate or profound disabilities who receive a primarily functional or life skills curriculum, and are unable to participate in more traditional testing. To learn more, visit the California Department of Education's CAPA website.

Spanish Assessment of Basic Education/2nd Edition (SABE/2)
The SABE/2 is a standardized, norm-referenced test on Spanish reading, language, spelling, and mathematics. It is required for Spanish-speaking English learners in grades 2-11 who have been enrolled in a California school less than 12 months or who are enrolled in a biliteracy program. Learn more.
