The
Testing Unit is responsible for coordinating the administration
of state and federal testing programs. Among its responsibilities
are the state Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR)
Program, which includes the California Standards Tests,
California Achievement Test, Sixth Edition Survey
(CAT/6), STAR Writing Assessment, California Alternate
Performance Assessment (CAPA), and the Aprenda, Third
Edition (Aprenda 3). Other state-mandated assessments
coordinated by the unit include the California High
School Exit Examination (CAHSEE), California English
Language Development Test (CELDT), and the FITNESSGRAM
physical fitness test. The unit is also responsible
for the federal National Assessment of Educational
Progress (NAEP).
The
Testing Unit provides appropriate reports and technical
assistance to schools, staff, the Standards, Assessment,
and Accountability Division (Standards and Assessment
website: http://www.sandi.net/saa/)
and/or community regarding testing issues and results
related to the various testing programs listed above.
The unit also provides individual student test results
of state-mandated assessment prorams to parents. The
office is responsible for ensuring appropriate test
security, test administration, and test preparation
procedures are followed at all school sites, conducting
investigations of reported testing irregularities,
and reporting testing irregularities and investigation
findings to appropriate state and federal personnel.
