My philosophy is to provide my
students access to information rather than acting as the primary source of all information.
For students to construct knowledge, they need opportunities to discover for
themselves and practice skills in authentic situations. I provide a
self-learning environment that empowers students and motivates them to look for
answers.
As a science teacher, my goal is to provide students access to as many
hands-on activities as possible that reinforce the lesson being studied and
create an opportunity for individual discovery and construction of knowledge to
occur.
I believe it is important
to provide activities and use different teaching techniques to allow students
with different learning styles the best opportunity to learn. Using technology and providing stimulating
activities I try to accommodate different learning styles in every lesson.
I
expect my students to take responsibility for their own learning. Students need to participate in class, complete assignments on time,
study for tests and come to tutoring before or after school when they
need help.
