Our Diverse Demographics
Juarez Elementary School boasts a culturally diverse student population. Our students come from many different backgrounds including Mexican, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Somalian, Iraqi, Pakistani, Ethiopian, and Ukrainian.
Our general student population includes approximately 40% Hispanic, 25% White, 20% Asian, and 15% African American students enrolled. Approximately 25% of our pupils are Choice students and attend our school from other areas of San Diego. The remainder of our students are neighborhood students. Approximately 74% of our students fall in the Title I category and qualify for free or reduced lunch. Approximately 40% of our students speak a language other than English at home. Approximately 15% of our students have learning disabilities, and another 15% are classified as gifted learners.
The Juarez community believes that there is beauty in diversity, and that our children are fortunate to be educated in such a diverse setting!
