An analysis of market needs conducted by the State of California has identified fifteen industry sectors essential to our economy. These thematic areas of study further secondary student learning, employability, and postsecondary education opportunities. Each industry sector is aligned with a career pathway and has a multi-level series of courses. This allows students the opportunity to explore a pathway, applying core curriculum to real world projects. Walking the pathway to success requires a continuing presence of guidance and planning. Last year 17,000 copies of our Career Planning Guide were utilized by counselors to help students establish a vision that aligns with their interests.

 

Each industry sector has established an industry sector advisory board (ISAB) to focus on the needs and improvements for courses related to a specific industry. These ISABs have subcommittees to review the curriculum, equipment needs, hours spent on internships, and other course specific items. This group then makes recommendations to the CTEAC for consideration.
