    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

     

    All aspiring photographers, please come to Rm 441 on Monday at lunch. We are beginning a Photography Club! Come meet new people and have fun.  (M.ATkisson)

    The 1st HOSA meeting will be held on Thursday, September 25th! Anyone interested in leadership or healthcare careers is invited to attend. Come to Rm. 607 at lunch to learn about competition dates and events. Any questions, see Ms. Thompson in 607  (D. Thompson)

    College Season is upon us! Fairhaven College is coming to campus on Sept. 24th at lunchtime. Stop by their table in front of the Media Center to pick up information. Tufts University is coming to campus on Sept. 29th, also at lunchtime. They will have their table in front of the Media Center also and will have information available for pickup. (N. Paige)

    The new Recycling Club has started and asks all staff and students to only place PAPER in the small blue recycle bins in the classrooms. These will be taken out daily during 5th period to the recycling dumpsters. If you want to be part of this group, please see Ms. Chadwick in Rm.601.   (L. Chadwick)

    Attention All Students: EduCate’s after-school Math Academy will today, Monday Sept. 22nd. Students needing support in their math classes are invited to stop by Rm. 432, 2:30-3:30 , Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Students who would like to volunteer their time to tutor peers in need of academic help are also welcome. Snacks will be provided to students who attend. Be there or be a regular quadrilateral! (S.     Due to Picture Day, the auditions for the Fall play that were to be held today have been moved to Thursday and Friday, 9/18 and 9/19, from 2:15-3:40 .  (M. Moody)

     Today, the Sophomore class is holding a fundraiser at Panera Bread on 5620 Balboa Avenue, 5-8PM. Grab a flyer from your English teacher and come support the Class of 2017! (T. Lynn)

    Attention Students! Do you want to be involved in our upcoming Fall play and Spring musical? The first meeting of the University City Performing Arts Club (UCPAC) will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10 in room 214 during lunch. It's not just acting..if you are interested in set construction, painting, sewing, costumes, hair and makeup, sound and lighting design, and much much more, you should come to this meeting! We will also be having groups in Improv, scene acting, and the magic of theater. Please come!

    Seniors – Turn in your Z passes today.  There is a blue drop box by Mrs. Smith’s desk in the main office.

    Seniors last full day of school is tomorrow, Tuesday, June10.  On Wednesday, please arrive by12:45PM in front of the auditorium for graduation rehearsal.  After rehearsal, you will receive your cap and gown, and guest tickets and parking pass.

     

    Underclassmen – Finals are on Wed, Thurs and Fri this week.  Wed is periods 1 & 6, Thurs is periods 2 & 5, and Friday is periods 3 & 4.  We have minimum days each of the finals days - dismissal time is 11:59AM.

     

    The sophomore class of 2016 will be selling water at the Stadium (home side) during the UCHS graduation ceremony.  We ‘re accepting water bottle donations up to the day of the ceremony. Please bring cases of bottled water to B-19 and leave your donation with Mr. Josten.  Thank you.

    SENIORS - if you received an invitation to the June 3rd Senior Awards Night and are planning to attend, you must RSVP by Tuesday, May 27th.  If you do not reply by May 27th, we can’t guarantee to include you in the program.  Turn in your RSVP to Mrs. Byrd in the main office.  Thank you!  -Mrs. Byrd

     

    All girls who are planning to try out for next year's JV or Varsity volleyball team should come to an informational meeting after school today Friday in the mini theater from 2:30 - 3:00PM.  –Coach Hartin 

     

    It’s time for the annual Academic League staff/senior match! Join us on Tuesday, May 27th at 7PM in the Media Center for this exciting “Battle of the Brains.”  Admission is $2 at the door.  –Ms. Levens

     

    The music department's color guard try-outs are May 27th, 28th, and 29th in room 208 from 3:15 to 4:45 PM.  The color guard unit performs with the marching band by dancing and twirling flags, sabres, rifles and batons.  The color guard and marching band perform in 4-5 competitive field tournaments in the fall and the home football games.  Students in color guard will receive PE credit in the fall semester and no experience is needed! –Mr. Corenman

     

    The UCHS Music Department's Pops Concert is on Thursday, May 29th.  A pre-show outdoors featuring the color guard begins at 6:30 PM.  The choir, orchestra, band, and jazz band will be performing in the UCHS auditorium.  Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and auditorium doors open at 6:50 PM.   Please join us for an evening of pops music! – Music Boosters

    The Early Yearbook Distribution Party is on Thursday, May 29th. Tickets are $4 and you can get your tickets from a yearbook staff member or from the financial office. If you do not purchase a yearbook by Friday, May 23rd, you will not be able to get your yearbook early! Regular distribution starts on Thursday, June 5th.   -UCHS Yearbook

     

    The Animal Rights Club garage sale is tomorrow, Saturday, May 24th.  Community service hours will be offered to anyone who attends or contributes to this event. See you thee! -Ms. Adsit.
     

    UC High tryouts for the 2014-2015 season is on May 27, 3:30-5:30 and May 28, 3:00-5:00, and 29th in the activity room.     Tonight is the ArtsTECH Academy’s annual showcase, Art Attack.  Don’t miss out!  The fun starts at 6:30 PM, in the school’s quad area, and follows with performances and videos in the auditorium.  There will be free food, beautiful artwork, spectacular theatrical performances, captivating videos, and other displays of ArtsTECH’s talents.  Last year’s Art Attack drew an outstanding crowd, and huge cheers, but let’s see if we can do even better for Art Attack 2014.
