Students and their Family members and guardians often want to know my background, so here is a short summary:
Teaching and Related Experience: I have been teaching at Morse since 2002. My prior experiences including teaching at several other schools in San Diego and San Jose, and at San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego. I have worked in several laboratories, as well as done field work. I put myself through college by working in veterinary and medical offices.
Education: My education includes a Bachelor's degree in Biology (emphasis physiology) from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master's degree in Biology (emphasis Ethology) based on coursework from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University ("Virginia Tech") and Sonoma State University. I earned my teaching credential at Sonoma State, too. I am a past program participant in several summer programs for Advanced Placement Biology teachers run by the College Board, and the Summer Institute for Teachers run by the San Diego Zoo's Institute for Conservation Research. I have taken (and continue to take) continuing education courses at San Diego State University, UCSD's Extension, National University, and Point Loma Nazarene.University. Because I have a tendency to take courses for fun (and not just for teacher credential purposes), I have also earned a D.D.
