2012 Junior Modle United Nations Conference

Henry students DOMINATE this year's Junior Model United Nations Conference!

Our Patrick Henry JMUN delegations came back to campus today weary and ecstatic. Patrick Henry students completely dominated the two-day conference with awards all over the place for special commendation, research awards (my favorite), economics awards, outstanding delegates, rappateur (voted best delegate by the students in each committee), gavel (awarded to the best participant in each committee based on points accrued through superior products throughout the year) and... best delegation, 2nd year in a row for Patrick Henry, to the delegates of the French Republic. In fact, I just found out that the top three delegations at the conference were France, South Korea and Gabon, ALL Patrick Henry students!

In addition, we had many upperclassmen who served as chairpersons and pages for the committees. Those students presided over the committees and guided the younger kids (6-8). They conducted themselves with such grace and professionalism, and received so many compliments! This afternoon, as Reece Camper was introducing his committee's award winners he said, "They say watching grass grow is boring; what isn't boring is watching people grow". They took their mentorship seriously.
Special congratulations to Sophia Quiroz and Britta Henry who organized and orchestrated the entire conference.
Our upperclassmen, the Chairs and the Pages, mentored the freshmen throughout the year. That is unique to Patrick Henry, and is the reason the freshmen believe they did so well and felt so prepared! The Secretaries General organized and conducted the entire district conference.
