Mt. Everest Academy is a college preparatory K-12 Independent Study school that is designed to meet the unique educational needs of students who can benefit from learning in an independent setting. Everest Academy is WASC accredited, one of San Diego County's highest ranked schools, with an API ranking of 9, and a recipient of the 2008 Exemplary Independent Study Recognition Award.Larry Oldham III, grade 6, who has NEVER had a haircut, saw a St. Jude Children’s Hospital commercial about children who lost their hair due to illness, and wanted to help. He chose to cut his long hair and donate it to create high quality hair prosthetics, which help sick children feel a sense of normalcy.
Seniors will get together to celebrate their upcoming graduation with a day trip to Dr. Rodenberg's family cabin in Mt. Laguna.
Quinten Kirby, grade 10, is a semi-pro road cyclist who races throughout the United States. His races can cover up to 100 miles a day. While racing, cyclists can ride as fast as 50 MPH, surrounded by fellow cyclists a mere 2-3 inches away!

Petunia Rizo, grade 2, earned one of the top 15 scores of all students in the nation that competed in level 2 of the International Math Kangaroo competition! Over 6 million students throughout the world participated in this at the same time.
Mt. Everest Academy is one of three schools in the San Diego Unified School District to receive this award. This award validates all the hard work and dedication of our students, parents, staff, and community.

Natalie Marrewa, grade 5, just completed an 11-week run acting and singing in “South Pacific” at Welk Resort Theatre. She was one of only 2 children in the production and did 5 performances a week, along with the adult professional actors.
