D.a.T.A. (Design and Technology Academy) is a school-within-a-school at Madison. D.a.T.A. was created for students who learn best by using their brain and hands together to produce projects bringing math, science and technology to life. The academy uses industry certified Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum and industry-standard Inventor software to help students develop the foundation skills in engineering and design to prepare them for college. Students can choose from one of two pathways in the academy: engineering or automotive technology.
D.a.T.A. is a designated Academy of Engineering by the National Academy Foundation and a California Partnership Academy for engineering in grades 10-12. Students can earn up to 12 college units while still in high school upon successful completion of the program.
A partnership with San Diego State University guarantees students enrollment into the SDSU School of Engineering when they complete at least two academy engineering courses with a grade of “B” or better and meet the university’s admission requirements.
Students who complete the NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) certified automotive courses are eligible to become an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified mechanic or continue on with postsecondary training in automotive design.
