 
GEAR UP to College Avenue Compact is federally funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and is conducted under the San Diego State University Research Foundation and the City Heights Educational Collaborative. GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. The program strives to engage students, involve parents and support school teachers and staff to cultivate a “college going culture” for every student. Currently GEAR UP is working with the Class of 2015 and 2016 at Monroe Clark Middle School (current 7th and 8th graders) Students will receive services as they move on to Hoover High School. Services Provided: Academic Advisement Tutoring Academic Enrichment Opportunities Leadership Opportunities College/Career Exploration Financial Aid Awareness Motivational Activities for Students and Parents
