SDUSD receives the vast majority of its funding from the State of California.  Consequently, SDUSD is involved in the state budget process and works closely with the Legislature and Executive branch to advocate for the resources needed to serve San Diego students.

California Department of Finance
The Department of Finance provides budget information and monthly updates on the state's financial situation as part of the Governor's Cabinet. Both the Governor's budget proposal in January and the revision in May are available at this site for download and viewing.

California Legislative Analyst's Office
The Legislative Analyst's Office provides fiscal and policy advice to the Legislature. Historically, one of the most important responsibilities of the office has been to analyze the annual Governor's budget and publish detailed reviews.  They recently produced a basic tutorial on Proposition 98, the voter-approved initiative that provides a minimum funding guarantee for school districts.
