Ballroom Dance -- Let's Rumba!
The Ballroom Dance Club meets on Fridays after school, from 2:15pm until 3:00pm.
Over the course of the year, we will be learning the basics of four dances, including the Waltz, Swing (Jitterbug), Cha-Cha, and Salsa. Depending on the progress of the class, we may learn other dances too, such as Rumba, Foxtrot, Night Club Two Step, and Tango.
The basics of rhythm, timing, posture, showmanship, connection, and teamwork will be explored and stressed.
This class will be open to 4th and 5th graders who show serious commitment to learning partner dancing. It will lead to a final performance at the annual Crown Point Elementary Variety Show, in the auditorium, at the end of the school year, in June.
Since I normally have between 30 to 50 students per class, it is difficult to offer it to anyone in the lower grades. But, if a lower grade student shows great interest, and if the numbers are low, I may open it on a case by case basis.
