Meet Vice Principal HilgersFred Hilgers
This is Fred Hilgers' first year at Miller Elementary and he is very excited to work with the students, families, and staff at Miller.  Mr. Hilgers has worked in San Diego Unified for 21 years as a Teacher, Vice Principal, and Principal.  Most of his experiences have been in High School, but he is delighted to work with the Miller students and families.  Mr. Hilgers has lived in San Diego his whole life and attended Elementary, Junior High, and High School in San Diego Unified.  Mr. Hilgers attended UCSD and received a degree in Bioengineering, and after graduating attended USD to earn both his teaching and administrative credentials.
Mr. Hilgers and his wife, Teri, live in Clairemont with their three dogs and two tortoises.  Their three daughters are all on their own exploring their lives.  Their oldest lives in North Park and works in the restaurant business, their middle daughter lives in Kansas and is working at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.  Their youngest daughter is a Sophomore at Syracuse University in New York.  Mr. Hilgers enjoys reading and working in his yard taking care of the garden and the turtles.  He is a big University of Kansas basketball fan (Rock Chalk Jayhawk) and San Diego Padre fan.  He is looking forward to a great year at Miller
