I am so pleased to be part of the staff at Dana Middle School and working with the students. I am excited to implement Common Core and be part of the successful futures of my students. I have lived here in San Diego all my life. I was a Navy baby and born at Balboa Hospital. In my past life I worked in the medical field but decided to change careers. I have been working with San Diego City Schools for 14 years and 11 of those years have been in Science in the middle school level. I received my Bachelor Degree in Multiple Subjects at Cal State San Marcos and a Master Degree in Educational Counseling at National University. I am also certified in Computer Applications. I have one son who just graduated from Cathedral Catholic High School and now is attending San Diego Christian College majoring in Kinesiology but like most college students that may change next week or as you are reading this. My other son doesn’t go to school because he has four paws and can’t sit still. As you can see I have a bit of a sense of humor. I love to relax to good comedy, music and food. Also, spending time with family is very important to me.
I believe that there is not one child that can not learn. As teachers we need to tap into their special talent and shape and mold it. Students are not one size fits all. Each student has something very valuable to contribute to this world and as teachers it is our job to encourage them to excel in their passion. I am looking forward to this opportunity.
