Biography

I am originally from Spring Valley, New York. My twin sister and I came to California to attend college, and I never went back. I am a beach person and cannot live away from it. Even when I lived in New York, I spent my summers at the Jersey shore (no, it is not like it is portrayed on the show).

My husband and I moved to Mira Mesa in 1982. Both of our children graduated from Mira Mesa High. In case any of you remember, we used to own the Heidi's Frogen Yozurt in Plaza Sorrento (the center with 'Fresh and Easy'). Our children were active in youth theater, sports and cheer. In 2004, we moved to La Costa, a community in Carlsbad. We found a house three houses away from my best friend that I grew up with in New York.

We love to travel and have a condo on the Hawaiian island of Maui, directly across the street from the beach. We love good food and are always willing to try new and exotic dishes. Because of this obsession, I have become a pretty good cook. This has also led  to (necessitated) my love  of working out.

I have been teaching for seventeen years. Before coming to Wangenheim, I taught 4th and 5th grade at Lafayette Elementary School in Clairemont. I always wanted to teach middle school, so when a job became available at Wangenheim, I jumped at the opportunity. I began teaching the sixth grade core (English and History) and Physical Education. When a colleague retired from the PE department, I decided to teach PE full time. I also obtained my Administrative Credential and hope to one day become a vice principal or principal.
