Annual Measurable Objectives are a set of state-established benchmarks for monitoring changes in performance among and across student subgroups, schools, and districts. States established the objectives as part of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) required by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
For California elementary and middle schools, the 2008 AMOs are:
- 35.2% of students at or above proficiency in English/language arts
- 37.0% of students at or above proficiency in mathematics
- 33.4% of students at or above proficiency in English/language arts
- 32.2% of students at or above proficiency in mathematics
- 34.0% of students at or above proficiency in English/language arts
- 34.6% of students at or above proficiency in mathematics
