Enrollment Options and School Choice

San Diego Unified School District is proud to offer a variety of enrollment choices to students and parents throughout the city. Families may choose the convenience of attending their neighborhood school or explore the exciting programs available to students who reside within district boundaries and wish to attend a school other than their neighborhood school.

You can talk to schools face to face by attending the School Choice Fair on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the Recital Hall in Balboa Park where all of our schools will be represented.  The booths will consist of Magnet and all schools, Transportation, and Parent Assistance Programs. Enrollment Options will be there to answer your questions concerning enrollment.  Students from a variety of schools will be performing throughout the day.  The event is free and extremely informative. The open enrollment period is from November 1, 2009 to February 15, 2010 for School Year 2010/11.

Every school and program supports the district’s commitment to ensure our students’ future success in college and career. In addition to neighborhood schools, we are proud to offer a variety of school choice options, including Magnet, Open Enrollment, Program Improvement School Choice (PISC), Voluntary Enrollment Exchange Program (VEEP) and Charter Schools. Enrollment in these programs is available to all district students, including English Learners, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) and Special Education students. Thousands of students take advantage of these programs and enrollment is limited. Submitting an application is required during the Application Period.
